Hon Wong

As a founder, executive, angel investor, and active board member of technology start-ups, Hon has led multiple start-ups through their entire life-cycle from conception and growth to exits through IPOs and M&As.

 

Hon has extensive hands-on experience with all aspects of the start-up process. He has worked with and guided many management teams through the challenges faced by all technology start-ups. These include fund raising, team building, competitive positioning, market and partnership development, pivoting, and go to market strategy formation and execution. Hon has worked with enterprise software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure and manufacturing services companies. 

 

Today, Hon sits on the board of and serves as strategic advisor to a number of technology companies. He is also cultivating a couple of start-up opportunities in the area of SaaS and mobile apps.  He co-founded and led several Silicon Valley companies to successful IPOs or exits.  These includes Ecosystems, NetIQ, Digital Market, Symphoniq, Centrify and Relevant Technologies (Flextronics).  He also participated in a number of high-value M&As of public and private technology companies on both the buy and sell side.  Early in his career, he was a manufacture engineer with GE and General Instrument, and a product manager at Intel and 3Com. 

 

Working with the US Small Business Administration sponsored Tech Futures Group, Hon provides free advisory services to technology start-ups.  He also serves as a member of the advisor board of Northwestern University’s NUvention entrepreneurial education program.

 

Hon was born in Hong Kong.  He received dual B.Sc. in Electrical and Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University, and earned his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
