The 1st Session of Innovative Community Activity: Forum on Value Creation

In the afternoon of December 21, in order to effectively cooperate with the incubation training of SRI Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp and create a new ecology of innovation of QDII, QDII held the first phase of Innovative Community Activity in Qingdao Oceantec Valley, with a focus on the forum on value creation and the lecture on intellectual property.

 

This Innovation Community Activity was organized as the first session activity after the collective training of Phase I of SRI Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp. A total of 7 outstanding project teams were selected, namely Geeqee intelligent centralized office scenario application, intelligent chain restaurant, polylactic acid oral membrane, Poseidon’s Eye - intelligent underwater robot, intelligent robot picking system, R&D of intelligent seafood transportation and high-end distribution system, and air energy high-temperature heat pump. Two project teams from out of Qingdao, though absent, participated in the value creation forum online.

 

In this innovative community activity, the QDII staff considerably prepared pizza, desserts, coffee, etc. for the participating teams. In a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, each team was given an opportunity to present their propositions on value in 4 minutes around the homework assigned by the mentors. Teams discussed various aspects of their projects from different angles and proposed suggestions for improvement. Project team members all said that they further deepened their understanding of the forum on value creation and consolidated their skills of applying what they learned during the collective training of SRI Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp through the innovative community activity.

 

This innovative community activity also invited Mr. Li Tong, an intellectual property planner, to tell the project teams the importance of prior planning of intellectual property for technology-based start-ups in the early stage of entrepreneurship. In line with the actual needs of technology-based start-ups for brand protection and technology protection, Mr. Li expounds the compliance with the standards in patents, trademarks and intellectual property rights as well as the application and awarding of high-tech enterprises. He emphasized the importance of prior planning of intellectual property structure for technology-based start-ups. He utilized real cases to analyze his opinions and use detailed data to help the audience further understand the methods and techniques of intellectual property protection for their practical operation and application. Project team members all said that they had become more familiar with the relevant knowledge and raised their awareness on the importance of intellectual property after the lecture, and that the lecture was very helpful for them to prepare for application of intellectual property rights in the next step.

 

Qingdao Oceantec Valley has also been actively promoting the invention and protection of patents. It offers rewards of CNY 1,000 and CNY 5,000 respectively to utility model patents and invention patents obtained by various organizations within its jurisdiction. For those projects with PCT invention patent, each item of invention will be rewarded with CNY 10,000 upon application within one year of acquisition of international retrieval. (The same patent is only awarded once according to the highest standard.)

 

Innovative community activity is the incubation training of QDII to effectively cooperate with SRI Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp. QDII will organize innovative community interaction activities participated by local organizations involved in investment, legal affairs, finance and human resources as well as incubation teams to create a new innovation and entrepreneurship ecology. Between the first and the second phases, the innovative community activity will be organized every 1 or 2 weeks, including forum on value creation and lectures on basic entrepreneurial skills. After the camp courses, based on the comprehensive performance of the innovative community, the teams that can enter the second phase of the camp will be selected. The theme of the second phase of the camp is: Go to Market. With a focus on the market, positioning, customer relations, sales and other factors, it provides a large number of cases and class interactions and practices.
