From December 10 to 14, 2018, Phase I of the SRI Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp, sponsored by QDII, successfully completed its five-day courses in Qingdao Oceantec Valley. Mr. Claude Leglise, CEO of the Innovation Leadership Center of SRI International, Andy Switky and Atsuko Hoshizumi, global cooperative innovation partners, served as innovative training mentors. The three big names from Silicon Valley went to Qingdao to bring original Silicon Valley incubation to entrepreneurs and to tap into their potential of growing into heads of great companies in the future. The mentor team brought the new thinking and new ways of innovation of Stanford to the projects. The the proposed projects’ business plans and promotion methods are improved through the training course, so that they are adapted to the market. The training also provided guidance on financing and entry for the proposed projects.
After five days of training, each project has in-depth understanding of the analysis framework of the "NABC Law" in the practice. After two on-site "NABC Law" training and interaction activities, great progress has been made in the project's on-site value proposition. The project presenters mastered the skills that are more suitable for promotion, avoiding the loss of direction in the roaming of ideas in the process of conceiving new business innovations. The innovation business plans were well developed as quickly as possible to win competition and gain recognition from mentors and customers.
The camp also invited Zhang Ying, Head of Sci-tech Innovation Office of Qingdao Oceantec Valley, to provide detailed interpretation on Qingdao’s investment promotion and talent recruitment policy, relevant talent policies, and science and technology policies of Qingdao Oceantec Valley to the project team. This helped the team gain a clearer picture of QDII and Qingdao Oceantec Valley in terms of administrative, scientific research areas and living facilities
Participants from many companies asked about the supporting policies on high-end talent introduction, technology enterprise cultivation and intellectual property awards. They all said that Qingdao Oceantec Valley's policies on talent introduction and project support are more favorable than other areas in Qingdao. Some of the policy funds will receive additional subsidy from Qingdao Oceantec Valley apart from the subsidy offered by Qingdao Municipal Government. This is very attractive for start-ups and small-scale technology companies. It is hoped that the subsidies are realized after the communication and cooperation with QDII.
