On June 17, a week-long training of “Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp” sponsored by Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII) was launched in Qingdao Oceantec Valley. It is Phase III of the “Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp”. With a focus on financing and enterprise operation & planning, it helps the entrepreneurial teams develop investible business plans and accelerate the process of marketization.

This camp, as one of the series of activities of Qingdao Oceantec Valley achievement commercialization, is an innovation incubation training supported by Qingdao Oceantec Valley Administration, National Center for Ocean Technology Transfer, and SRI International.

Dr. Huang Yannong, CEO of QDII gave a welcoming speech. Under the guidance of the senior innovation mentors of SRI International, the project teams selected into Phase III will hold a 5-day symposium ,to open new chapters for their entrepreneurship. In addition to the project teams, the camp also attracted many guests to the site, such as Jiang Yanji, General Manager of Energy Innovation Center of China Tower and Ren Ren, the consultant of QDII and anchor of Phoenix Satellite TV.

Since the opening of Phase II “Symposium on Entering the Market” of the SRI Silicon Valley Innovation Training Camp in the end of February, the participating entrepreneurial teams have been taking an active part in innovative community activities; based on the NABC innovation methodology, they have made lots of preparations for entering the market, such as market research, competitor analysis, defining the market orientation, and developing the marketing strategy. At today’s symposium, they showed their achievements of Phase II to the mentors.

The difficulty of start-up financing has been an indisputable fact. It is difficult to find an investor and convince them to invest. However, for an entrepreneur, financing is a required course in their career. One of QDII’s tasks is just to help the entrepreneurs reduce the difficulties in starting up a business, attract investments, and achieve fast commercialization.
