This special project consists of Stanford’s theoretical courses of Silicon Valley innovative thinking system and QDII’s practices of introducing sophisticated and innovative technologies from overseas. It enables the participating students to simulate the actual management and operation mode of enterprises and enhances their innovative spirit, entrepreneurship awareness, and relevant abilities and competencies, thus cultivating high-calibre talents with international perspective, innovative spirit and practical ability.

At the event, Zheng Shanhe, Head of Foundation and Achievement Office of Qingdao Science and Technology Bureau, said that there are always difficulties for the commercialization of sci-tech achievements. There is information asymmetry in the commercialization of many schoolscientific achievements in enterprises, as well as a lack of official statistics. Education on innovation and entrepreneurship as well as commercialization of technological achievements is very necessary for modern college students. The OUC-QDII Special Project on Guiding Technology Transfer is of great significance and is expected to produce great benefits.

According to Wu Qiangming, Assistant to the President of OUC, the project is an important measure of the two parties to strengthen cooperation and jointly guide and cultivate excellent talents in innovation and entrepreneurship. It is expected that the students can enhance their foundation and accumulate strength to be a talent adapted to the demand of economic and social development.

Dr. Huang Yannong, CEO of QDII, talked about QDII’s integration of innovative ideas into the innovative ecology of Qingdao. Innovation is not only a kind of knowledge, but a thinking system and a part of the values. He expressed his hope for the OUC students to, through the project, acquire innovative ideas and apply innovative thinking and skills to future study and work.

After that, Ma Yang, Alliance Expansion Director of QDII, introduced the mature innovation management methods and theories from Silicon Valley, and Gao Wenxian, an intellectual property and technology transfer expert of QDII, introduced the sophisticated overseas projects to be used for practice in the special project, which aroused great interest of the students.

In the era of knowledge economy, innovation is a major driver. The OUC-QDII Special Project on Guiding Technology Transfer has transcended the traditional educational pattern and thoroughly implemented the innovation-driven development strategy. Practice is a significant extension of innovation and entrepreneurship education. The project hasmade breakthroughs in the traditional classroom education and extended to practice, scaling new heights in innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities. Based on the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Base built in cooperation with OUC, QDII will probe into innovative cooperation and exchange with colleges and universities, cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents in Qingdao Oceantec Valley and even colleges and universities of Qingdao by establishing a collaborative innovation platform for talents from universities, local departments and enterprises. On top of that, it will help the introduction of sophisticated projects from overseas, and actively explore the innovation and development of industry-university-research integration in China, with the aim of becoming a new icon of sci-tech innovation in Qingdao.
