On March 31, the Phase II of Silicon Valley Innovation Accelerated Camp in 2020 officially opened. The camp is hosted by Qingdao Oceantec Valley Administration Bureau, and co-organized by Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII), Haier Hai Chuanghui (HCH) and Qingdao SME Public Service Center. For the first online course, Mr. Claude Leglise, Chairman of Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII), was specially invited to give a training to the entrepreneurs in Qingdao and even China on fighting against the epidemic with innovative thinking. During the training, Mr. Claude Leglise taught about the innovation rules of Standard Research Institute (SRI) and coping strategies in a changing era. The activity was broadcast live on platforms such as Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII), Haier Hai Chuanghui (HCH), and Qingdao Private Enterprise Home in the form of lectures and Q&A sessions, and has attracted more than 20,000 viewers.

Wang Houen, Deputy Director of Qingdao Oceantec Valley Administration Bureau, addressed the event. In his speech, he stated that the Qingdao Oceantec Valley, surrounded by mountains and sea, is not only beautiful, but also a suitable place to live, work and recuperate. It has formed an excellent transportation network with complete land, sea and air routes. Here, the marine scientific research is clustered, industrial characteristics are distinct, and innovation is full of vitality. At present, a "3 + 3" industrial system has been established, which is dominated by the three major industries, i.e. marine information, marine biology and marine technology and equipment, and supported by mass innovation services, high-end services and finance. Qingdao Oceantec Valley has formed drivers with oceanic advantages, and it is gradually growing into a fertile ground for innovation and entrepreneurship. We welcome all entrepreneurs to come to Qingdao Oceantec Valley to start and develop your business.

Ma Yang, Director of Operations at Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII), was the host of this live broadcast. Liu Yulong, Director of Science and Technology Innovation Department of Qingdao Oceantec Valley Administration Bureau, Yan Chengxia, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Innovation Department, Mr. Claude Leglise, Chairman of Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII), Dr. Huang Yannong, CEO of Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII), and Zang Yuhong, Partner and CFO of Hai Chuanghui (HCH), attended the event as guests.

In the live broadcast, Mr. Claude Leglise, Chairman of Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII), explained to entrepreneurs the analysis framework for business innovation, namely, the NABC Method, which was proposed by SRI in 2006. Specifically, N is for Need (customer needs); A is for Approach (the approach to meet the needs); B is for Benefits (benefits per costs); C is for Competition. The NABC Method is a "navigation tool" for designing, adjusting, and optimizing a product or strategy as a whole. Anyone can repeatedly confirm their value propositions through these four questions before creating any value. This method is still in use today, and it provides strategic design methods and guidelines for innovative entrepreneurial projects. It allows entrepreneurs to avoid random thoughts. Instead, they can use the four pivots of NABC to make innovations rule-based so that their enterprises can have more advantages in competition.

The Silicon Valley Innovation Accelerated Camp applies this method to empower the enterprise development. Previously, thanks to the use of this innovation rule, SRI has continuously hatched hundreds of science and technology projects, among which over 50 have become well-known companies that have impacted the world. A number of great innovations that changed the world, such as Apple's mobile phone voice recognition system SIRI, American high-definition television, the da Vinci Surgical System, malaria drugs, have been derived from this. SRI is therefore regarded as one of the most innovative research institutions in the world.

The Phase II of Silicon Valley Innovation Accelerated Camp in 2020 consists of four stages of high-end professional training for "Innovation Acceleration", including the introduction to innovation in the primary election stage, the plan to enter the market in the promotion stage, fundraising and organizational structure in the advanced stage, and the Silicon Valley training camp in the final stage. The first three stages will take place every two weeks in the form of live public welfare courses via the online platforms from March 31 to June 9. There will be 6 courses in total. The next live broadcast course will be on April 14.

The sign-up deadline for the Phase II of Silicon Valley Innovation Accelerated Camp in 2020 is April 15. Entrepreneurs interested in the camp can submit project proposals through the registration channels. At the appointed time, projects that meet the requirements will be selected to enjoy: the guidance of the world-class entrepreneur team provided by Qingdao Innovation Institute (QDII); connection with well-known venture capital funds, equity financing design, capital acceleration; assistance in applying for the latest technology, industry and talent policy support of Qingdao Oceantec Valley; graduation certificate of training on innovation rules by SRI (with the opportunity to obtain the certificate of senior technical manager filed by Qingdao Science and Technology Bureau); access to the European and American cutting-edge technology project library to meet the needs of industrial upgrading and iteration; visit to research institutes and well-known enterprises in European and American Silicon Valley, opportunities for one-on-one counseling by foreign experts, and other services.

Q: Thanks for your introduction, Dr. Huang Yannong. My question is, what is the screening process after the sign-up? Will there be another screening after the project is selected?

A: Dr. Huang Yannong: After today's event, as Mr. Claude said, there will be a series of lectures every two weeks. Since last week, we have been recruiting for the accelerated camp project. Since the announcement, we have received dozens of project proposals from across China. The deadline for sign-up is April 15. After the deadline, we will conduct roadshow screening. Please pay attention to the sign-up deadline, that is, April 15. We suggest that you adopt the NABC method, which is also mentioned just now by Mr. Claude, to present your project. Everyone is welcome to sign up.
