Online forum "Talk about starting a Business" successfully held!

On the morning of 8th, the online forum "Talking about entrepreneurship" organized by Chinese Electric Power Association of North America (NACPPA) was successfully held. This forum invited three guests with different entrepreneurial experience to share their entrepreneurial experience, namely Dr. Bo Le Huang Yanong, president of QDII and silicon Valley entrepreneur; Entrepreneur guest Dr. Schwenberg; Professor part-time entrepreneurial guest Dr. Tao Hong.

NACPPA


Chinese Electric Power Association of North America (NACPPA) is a non-profit organization that provides a platform for Chinese electric power professionals to study and communicate in North America. Its mission is to provide career and skill development opportunities, learning and training opportunities and business development opportunities for Chinese power professionals in North America, and to promote collaboration with other power professional organizations worldwide.


Entrepreneurial Talent in Silicon Valley: Dr. Huang Yanong


Dr. Huang yanong graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in the first place, and won the Scholarship of the Ministry of Education to study in France. In 1991, he graduated from Ecole Superieure de Telecommunications in Paris, France, with a doctorate degree. I have written more than 40 technical articles and implemented more than 40 enterprise IT applications. Raised over $40 million in recent years.


On entrepreneurship, Dr. Huang said that the key to the success of entrepreneurship lies in technology, the knowledge reserve of entrepreneurs and their sensitivity to the market. A solid, mature technology is half the battle; The entrepreneur's own knowledge reserve is the guarantee of success; Choosing a suitable, immature market will accelerate the pace of entrepreneurial success.

Entrepreneur guest: Dr. Schwenberg


Dr. Swenbaud is the founder and CHIEF Executive Officer of Singularity. Prior to founding Singularity, Dr. Swenbaud was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University in smart grid technology and management, where he has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers that have been cited over 1,000 times. Two of his journal papers have been named most popular by IEEE. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2015. At present, Dr. Shi has completed several rounds of nearly ten million DOLLARS of financing.


Dr. Swinbow said that product, capital and team are the key components of a successful venture. The quality of the project directly determines whether the enterprise can continue to develop, and team is the skeleton supporting the stable development of the entire enterprise. Therefore, financing funds should be applied to product development and team building.

Prof. Part-time entrepreneur Guest: Dr. Tao Hong


Dr. Tao Hong is currently professor, Graduate director and Research Director of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, director of BigDEAL (Big Data Energy Analysis Laboratory) and academician of NCEMC Energy Analysis School.


He is the Large Director of the International Forecasting Institute (IIF), The General Chair of the Global Energy Forecasting Competition (GEfcom.org), the founding and past Chair of the IEEE Energy Forecasting Working Group, and the founding and past Chair of the IIF Water, Energy and Environment Division (SWEET). He is currently division Editor of IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Associate Editor of The International Journal of Forecasting, and Associate Editor of Solar Energy. He received his BACHELOR's degree in automation from Tsinghua University in Beijing and his Ph.D. in operations research and electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.


When it comes to starting a business, Dr. Hong Tao lays more emphasis on team building. He mentioned that his team members have changed continuously since starting the business until they reach an efficient team level. Moreover, new team members will bring new inspirations, which is more conducive to the project innovation.

After the three doctors shared their experience, participants in the forum raised questions about how to choose partners and where to get investment, and the three doctors answered these questions accordingly.


1.How to choose partners?


(1) To find a clear positioning, with the same ambition and mutual trust of people;

(2) It is necessary to have a solid knowledge reserve, which is convenient for those with innovative spirit and high flexibility to learn from their technical strengths.


2. Where can I access investment?

Entrepreneurship is a road, the road of difficulty, loneliness, hesitation only experienced or are experiencing entrepreneurs can have a profound experience. The success of entrepreneurship is not only related to venture capital and opportunity, but also closely related to entrepreneurial ideas and methods. Those who really want to start a business and succeed in it must be wise, aggressive, good at discovery and learning, and dare to innovate and challenge.
